As a young kid, John has always enjoyed the outdoors and getting in to a little trouble.  Results from his pre-adolescent crusades led to a firm and thorough understanding of adventure and its limits.  Aside from exploration, playing the guitar and photography are two major hobbies.  Altogether, you have a mix of music, scenery, and experience.  Through these aspects, it's not too difficult to immerse in a real life adventure experience.
